Intragastric Balloon

The Intra Gastric Balloon is a non-surgical aid in the treatment of obesity. The Intra Gastric Balloon is a soft, expandable, silicone balloon that is placed inside the stomach via endoscopy that enters through the mouth and into the stomach with or without sedation.
A saline filled balloon made of silicon is placed in the 3 lumen of the stomach endoscopically. The balloons occupy most of space in the stomach and give the sensation of fullness to the person. Hence the person eats smaller amount of food, but gets the satisfaction of full meal. This method is better tolerated by patients who do not require operation or do not wish to undergo the same. This method is better tolerated by patients as compared to conventional dieting because they do not need to control their hunger or craving.
